What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once the implant has bonded with the surrounding bone (osseointegration), a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is attached on top. Implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth and are considered the gold standard for tooth replacement.

Am I suitable for dental implants?Most adults in good general health are suitable for implants, provided there is sufficient bone in the jaw and the gums are healthy. Conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes or heavy smoking can affect healing but do not always rule out treatment. We carry out a thorough clinical assessment, including 3D imaging where appropriate, before recommending implants. Bone grafting can be performed if additional bone volume is needed.
How long does the implant process take?
From the initial consultation to the fitting of the final crown, the process typically takes three to nine months. After the implant is placed, the bone needs time to fuse with the titanium – usually three to six months. The crown is then attached once healing is complete. In some straightforward cases, a temporary crown can be fitted on the same day as placement.
How long do dental implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, the implant post itself is designed to last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after 10 to 20 years depending on wear. Smoking, poor oral hygiene, and certain health conditions can shorten implant lifespan. We will provide you with detailed aftercare guidance to protect your long-term investment.
