Children’s
Dentistry.
We welcome and treat most children and paediatric dental issues in house. Our primary aim is to ensure that children enjoy their visit, look forward to regular visits and learn proper techniques and habits when it comes to cleaning. Good foundations set early on really do result in great oral health.
What to expect.
We help children build lifelong confidence in dental care through gentle visits, positive experiences and supportive guidance. Regular check-ups, prevention, hygiene instruction and early pain-free decay management protect developing teeth, monitor growth and encourage strong habits that support healthy smiles into adulthood.
We focus on making dental visits a happy experience, treatment as comfortable as possible so that children grow into adults associating dental visits as a positive means of staying healthy and looking good.

Why are children’s dental exams important?
- Preventing child tooth decay
- Monitoring dental development and fixing potential issues early
- Building positive dental habits for life
When should my child have their first dental examination?
We recommend bringing your child to the dentist as soon as their first tooth appears, usually around six months of age, and no later than their first birthday. Early visits help familiarise children with the dental environment in a relaxed, positive way and allow us to spot any concerns at the earliest stage.
How much do children’s dental examinations cost?
We charge £35/- per examination.
How often does my child need a dental check-up?
Most children are seen every 6-12 months, though your dentist may recommend more frequent visits depending on your child’s individual risk. Children who consume high amounts of sugar or who have had previous decay may need to be seen every three to four months. We will agree a recall interval with you at the end of each appointment.
My child is scared of the dentist — what do you do to help?
We always use a child-friendly approach, explaining each step in simple language, never rushing, and making sure your child feels in control. For very anxious children, we offer acclimatisation visits where no treatment is carried out, just a chance to sit in the chair, meet the team, and explore the environment. Starting dental visits early and keeping them positive is the best way to prevent dental anxiety from developing.
What toothpaste should my child use?
Children under three should use a smear of fluoride toothpaste containing at least 1,000ppm fluoride. Children aged three to six should use a pea-sized amount. From age seven, children can use standard adult toothpaste (1,350–1,500ppm fluoride). Our team can recommend specific toothpastes. Brush last thing at night and at one other time daily. Parents should supervise brushing until the child is around seven or eight years old.
